LONDON, 21 October 2021: Trainline, the leading independent rail and coach platform, has appointed Martin Sheehan, to the newly created role of Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. Sheehan joins from Portland, the leading strategic communications consultancy where he helped guide the growth of the company over the last 13 years as International Managing Director, before moving to a Senior Advisor role.
Sheehan is responsible for Trainline’s Government Affairs, Industry Relations and Communications functions, in all of the company’s key markets across Europe. Sheehan joins the Executive Team and reports directly into Trainline CEO, Jody Ford.
As Trainline continues to support its rail industry partners in the UK and across Europe with strong pandemic recovery, fast growth in passenger numbers beyond this, and modal shift to help governments meet emissions targets, Sheehan will play a key role in strengthening these partnerships.
He brings over 20 years’ experience in strategic communications. At Portland he advised a range of global brands, governments, philanthropic and foundation clients. For over 10 years in the UK government, he also advised Prime Ministers Blair and Brown in 10 Downing Street, where he was Head of Strategic Communications.
