What is the hiring process?

Application

Check out our vacancies and see if anything is the right fit — our Talent Team review every application we receive. If you’re a good match, we’ll be in touch to arrange a call. If you don’t quite match the requirements, you’ll receive an email encouraging you to keep an eye on future roles.

Talent Team Call

This will be a short video or phone interview with one of our Talent Team. It’s a relaxed way to get to know you — your experience, expectations and motivations. We’ll make sure you’re clear about what the role involves, answer any questions and inform you about the next stages of the journey.

Interview

The journey from here may vary depending on the role but our Talent Team will let you know what to expect. You’ll meet a bunch of Trainliners across a number of interview stages (which varies depending on the level and nature of the role) including your potential manager, team and other people you would work closely with.

Decision

At the final stop, you’ll hopefully start your onward journey as a Trainliner! If successful, we’ll arrange a call to run through your offer and next steps. Some journeys will end here, but you’ll still hear from the Talent Team with constructive feedback and we'd also love to hear your feedback on how the interview process was for you.

The Trainline process

The Talent Team will share some specific guidance on what to expect and how to prepare for your interview when it’s arranged. General tips: read the job description, review our values, visit our app or website, research your interviewers, prepare your questions, and check our LinkedIn and life@trainline on Instagram for more about our culture.

We’ll keep you informed throughout the interview process. If you need any extra information, just contact the talent team. Wherever your interview process ends, you'll receive constructive feedback, whether the news is good or bad.

Yes, please do apply again if we are advertising other roles that align to your experience. But there is no need to apply again to a role you have already applied for, we carefully consider every application and if you weren’t successful, it’s because we didn’t think your experience was a match on this occasion.

We do sponsor visas, but unfortunately not for every role. Do apply if you need sponsorship and if your experience is a match, and we can sponsor that role, our team will get in touch.
